New Sean Parker Wedding Pictures

We like to think we’ve seen it all when it comes to romantic gestures, but social media mogul Sean Parker took it to an entirely new level with his over-the-top Big Sur wedding.

Parker, who was played by Justin Timberlake in The Social Network, personally oversaw the most lavish wedding we think we’ve ever seen. We reported the event here, but we just had to share the pictures and details of this elaborate fantasy wedding.

Vanity Fair has just released new pictures, and although we do tend to favor refined simplicity in our own style, the effect was pretty much magical. To create a Tolkien themed wedding in the woods, the couple spent $4.5 million for the wooded alone. Here are some quick details about the festivities:

Lord of the Rings costume designer Ngila Dickson designed costumes for each of the 364 guests.

Guests entered through a 20 foot gate.

Lounging beds and dining chairs were covered with miles of white fur.

The cake was nine feet tall.

Guest included Emma Watson, Olivia Munn, Sting, LArs Ulrich from Metallica and founders of MTV, Wikipedia, Zynga, Twitter, Facebook and the like.

Wedding inspirations included old growth forests, Disney, Lord of the Rings, and the invitation to the 1953 coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.

Bunnies were provided for guests to cuddle.

Set designers made bridges, a ruined stone castle, a 10-foot Celtic cross, and two broken Roman columns for the altar.

Traditional Irish singer Loreena McKennitt performed with a seven-piece band on a 50-foot stage.

And that’s not all. Here’s an except from Vanity Fair:

“The newlyweds dined on salmon with beets and Napa cabbage (entrée choices: porchetta, chicken, or venison) while perched upon a 10-foot sofa-throne, their feet nestled in a bearskin rug. After dark, lights illuminated the hillsides. Sting erupted a cappella in an impromptu version of his song “I Was Brought to My Senses.” Celtic musicians played on. Then the P.A. boomed disco and rock until dawn. At five A.M. guests guzzled leftover bottles of $500-plus wine from Napa Valley’s Harlan Estate. (The following night, stragglers gathered around an inflatable outdoor screen to watch the bloody “Red Wedding” episode of Game of Thrones.)”

Wow.

Cheers to the happy and imaginative couple. We hope their lives together are as exciting as their wedding!

“Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.” — Buddha

This week we’re savoring the moment. There’s so much to notice and appreciate when we let go the past and the future and live now.

Have a beautiful weekend, everyone! We hope our favorite links inspire you like they did us.

Want to honeymoon somewhere really different? Or just thinking cool thoughts? These pictures of Iceland are from a dream.

We love this outfit: adult, sophisticated, fashionable, and the hair keeps it young and breezy.

Want summer to last forever? We recommend.

The ultimate summer lunch: Caesar salad!

Blueberry shortcake! (It’s healthy because of the blueberries.)

Flowers that pop, huge skies and wine, at this Modern Vineyard Wedding. Cool invites, right?

We Love: Summer Cocktails & A Fiesta Themed Wedding

This weekend, we’re trying new things. You have to, to keep things fresh and spicy. What’s on your list of fun experiments and experiences?

We really need to try cronuts.

But instead of waiting in line for them, we’ll probably just make these (surprisingly grown up and elegant!) mojito jello shots instead.

Not into it? Okay, here are some really, truly elegant summer cocktails. Worth a try, right?

To go with them? This salad looks incredible. And these lemon bars are so summery, we want to eat them on a hammock.

We want these tea glasses by Calypso St. Barthe! So pretty on a picnic, right?

We’re definitely trying at least one of these aromatherapy blends. We’re just not confessing which one!

And lastly, we love this vintage fiesta-themed wedding! Kids, babies, green shoes, flowing hair, an incredible bouquet, a groom wearing pink… we don’t know where to look! It’s all so good.

Let’s be inspired to try something extra-colorful this weekend!

We Love: mermaid wedding inspiration

Style mag Lucky reports that “mermaid” beauty is all the rage, and we are all about it!

We unveiled our Arielle Engagement Ring a few months ago, which has a decidedly magical-mermaid feel, and we’re loving the trend for weddings. Iridescent colors, siren shapes and under-the-sea inspiration just puts us in the greatest mood!

We wouldn’t necessarily take it so literally, but these pictures are really beautiful.

This mermaid inspired elopement is so perfect!

And we adore this sunset ‘Day After’ shoot from Sean Taylor Photography, with the bride’s wildly sexy mermaid hair.

What do you think of the mermaid trend?

We Love: Gibson Bespoke & Astoria Road

The Jeff Cooper family celebrated an anniversary this week, so we’re definitely in the mood for love. Designer David Cooper and his wife Nikole celebrated their anniversary this week, and we couldn’t help but share what they wrote about each other on Facebook. (We dare you not to tear up a little!)

Nicole wrote, “Today I’m married 9 years to the most amazing husband a girl can ask for! Every day I’m so blessed for our wonderful family.”

And David wrote, “Nikole, every day is a blessing with you. Life may be a never ending roller coaster, but as long as you ride it out with me, anything is possible. I love you more today than yesterday, and you’re more beautiful to me now than the day I met you 14 years ago.”

Just so you know, our Nikole Collection was inspired by David’s feelings for Nikole, and we can’t think of anything sweeter. We wish for every girl in the world to find someone who adores her like that!

And so, we wish you a beautiful, romantic, special weekend! Here are some loveable links to get you in the mood!

See the featured photo above this post? That’s Danielle and Andre from 100 Layer Cake’s ‘Rustic Florida Wedding.’ We found ourselves so drawn to this photo essay about them, because they look so lost in love with each other, it’s like nobody else is there. So romantic.

Getting married, or know someone who is? This is a great idea. It’s Astoria Road, a wedding registry that lets you select gifts from any store. Very cool.

Want a way to tactfully let bridesmaids and groomsmen what’s in the job description? All you need is this link.

Anyone with a house would appreciate this beautiful bird feeder. It’s such an artful piece for $20, can you think of a more perfect housewarming or hostess gift?

Are you a bride-to-be who really likes attention? Check out these one-of-a-kind bespoke wedding accessories from Gibson Bespoke on Etsy.

And finally, the 21 Rules of Entertaining. We’re fond of #21, since it involves homemade ice cream sandwiches. Save one for us!

We Love: Hammocks & Nail Art

We had a carrot cake with these antique candles carved into a French Renaissance bride and groom that I’d been saving since I was a teenager for my wedding day. It was super relaxed with all the families hanging together on the beach. Pure bliss. Everyone left at noon and we went back to life as usual.

That’s Jemima Kirke from the HBO series Girls, describing her wedding.

Pure bliss.

Here’s to a weekend as relaxed and lovely as Jemima’s beach wedding. We’re thinking about buying a hammock and doing some light internet reading & pinning. How ’bout you?

A mind-blowing pizza recipe? This is an excellent start.

And we need these chocolate bars. Okay, maybe we don’t need them, but how good do they look? Honestly.

Amazing, stylish hammocks that make a positive impact! Definitely where we want to spend next weekend.

Design Love Fest takes the quirky style to a chic Airbnb in Barcelona and everything is beautiful and wildly bohemian. Kind of a cool alternative to a hotel honeymoon.

We’ve never seen bedding like this. Painterly and cool.

The best wedding nail ideas.

And that’s it for now!

Links We Love: French Polynesia & Doughnut Cake

Our friend posted on Facebook, “You can never hug and kiss your loved ones enough.” Which expresses our sentiments exactly. We want to spend this weekend holding our dearest near, and trying to spread a little kindness wherever the opportunity arises. Here’s where you can donate to those who’ve been affected by the tragic events on April 15th.

It’s a pretty major splurge, but we’d love to snuggle down with our family in these heart print sheets from D. Porthault. They could be a great wedding registry item.

The styling in this bridal-inspired fashion editorial in French Glamour is too edgy for most, but the accessories would be amazing on anyone.

These retro wedding cakes are some of the most original we’ve seen. They look kind of Midcentury Modern, no?

Want something a little less fancy? We’re dying for an occasion to make a doughnut cake.

Why are we so obsessed with cake? Because.

We blogged about Gatsby style here, and now Brooks Brothers has announced an entire Great Gatsby themed collection.

We love this rosé colored dress and mood board. We’d add this.

If you’re planning a beach honeymoon or just getting ready for summer, Beyoncé and H&M have some bikinis to show you. We love the photography and Bey’s womanly curves.

Where shall I wear them, you ask? Ideally, French Polynesia. Where the water is turquoise and the breeze is vanilla-scented.

We loved seeing the Orchid Show. If you’re near NYC, get there before it’s over!

We Love: The Short Wedding Dress

Happy Friday and Hello Spring!

Speaking of, wouldn’t Here Comes the Sun make a great recessional song for a wedding? We’d love to see that.

The lace, the venue, the shoes, the ring!! This El Capitan Wedding from 100 Layer Cake looked so incredible.

And so does Jonathan Adler’s exuberant list of Etsy picks.

And this great list of gorgeous wedding books, by Luella & June.

Stunning photography of lightning.

Marrying Prince William, haha.

Designers favorite workout accoutrements.

Bake it in a cake! Does someone you love, love chocolate and peanut butter?

A friend of ours is looking for a short wedding dress. We found these, on Brooklyn Bride. And these at Nordstrom. Any more ideas? Leave it in the comments.

Have a wonderful weekend, friends!

Ask Jeff Cooper: Wedding Planning

Since so many of our friends and fans are engaged and planning weddings, we’re aware of the pressure on couples to please others. Everyone has an opinion on the food. The dress. The officiant. And family members who contribute financially are even more invested.

These days, couples are expected to contribute creatively to the celebration too, putting a unique, or at least trendy spin on the day. It’s a lot to think about.

We came across this Andy Warhol quote that gets to the heart of the issue.

“Don’t think about making art, just get it done. Let everyone else decide if it’s good or bad, whether they love it or hate it. While they are deciding, make even more art.”
– Andy Warhol

In other words, trust your instincts and do what inspires you.
